Along with Bishop Miro, the vicar general of the Military Ordinariate, Msgr. Željko Čuturić, the parish priest of Brajkovići, OFM Krešimir Vukadin, and three other priests concelebrated. Among the faithful who came to pray and remember the suffering Croats of Brajkovići and the entire Travnik region were Generals Tomo Kolenda and Zdravko Rezo, and the mayor of Novi Travnik, Stjepan Dujo.

In his sermon on the occasion, Msgr. Relota recalled that 33 years have passed since the war brought destruction, persecution, and suffering, and when many had to leave their homes. "Time passes, but memory remains. And it must remain. Because a people who forget their victims risk losing a part of their soul", said Bishop Miro, and made it clear that Christians gather in such places primarily because of faith. "We believe that human life does not end with death and that those we commemorate today are not lost, but live in God. The resurrection of Christ gives meaning to our hope and our memory. Therefore, today we pray that the Lord will receive our deceased into his eternal kingdom and reward them with peace that does not pass away", urged the military bishop, emphasizing that God is not a "mute observer", but - having experienced the cross himself - has compassion for man. From there, he pointed out the responsibility to preserve the truth. "Truth is not a means of division, but the foundation of reconciliation. Without truth, there is no justice, and without justice, there is no lasting peace. That is why we speak respectfully about our victims and pass on their story to new generations", emphasized Msgr. Relota who also gave a special message to the young people, many of whom were born after the war, not to allow the sacrifice of their close ancestors to be forgotten, but to build a future based on respect, dialogue and peace.

"The Christian faith teaches us that memory must not turn into hatred. We are called to seek truth and justice, but also to live the evangelical call to forgiveness. This is not weakness, but strength. This is not a renunciation of truth, but the victory of good over evil", emphasized Bishop Miro, and in closing, he thanked all who remained faithful to "their faith, their people and their homeland", as well as to the families and all who "participated in the renewal of life, unity and hope after the war". "May this memorial be a lasting sign that the sacrifice of our deceased has not been forgotten. May it be a place of prayer and gratitude, a place where future generations will learn how precious peace is and how high the price of freedom is", said the military bishop.

Let us also mention that before the start of the Holy Mass, families of the deceased, surviving veterans, representatives of associations originating from the last war, as well as political officials and delegations from various levels of government, laid wreaths and lit candles for all the killed and deceased veterans and civilians of Brajković, Travnik and all of central Bosnia.
