On March 1st, in Jablanica, organized by the Hrvatska udruga logoraša (Croatian Association of Detainees), marked the 28th anniversary of the exchange of Croatian detainees detained in the BiH Army camp in the Museum of the Battle for the Wounded.
The commemoration began with the laying of wreaths at the Museum. The prayer for the dead was prayed by the parish priest of Jablanica, rev. Drago Ćurković, who then celebrated Holy Mass in the parish church.
During his sermon, rev. Drago emphasized the importance of the Christian life following the path of Jesus. He especially emphasized that we should always fight for the truth because Jesus is “our Path, Truth and Life”.
At the end of the Holy Mass, he thanked everyone who came to the celebration “because it is important that these events are not forgotten, but to be a reminder of the great evil that happened, and that is the war”.
By the way, the camp was founded on April 15th, 1993, and 891 people of Croatian nationality passed through it. 88 of them were members of the HVO, the rest were civilians from: Jablanica, Doljani, Drežnica, Grabovica and surrounding towns. Some of them were not even recorded by the International Red Cross. The youngest person was a 28-day-old child. There were more than 60 children under the age of 14 in the camp, as well as a large number of elderly people. One woman even gave birth in the camp.
Inhumane treatment, beatings, rapes and killings took place. Unfortunately, even 28 years since the dissolution of the camp, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has not filed a single indictment.
