Day of KŠC Sv. Josip was solemnly celebrated

The celebration of the Day of the Catholic school centre (KŠC) "Sv. Josip" in Sarajevo began with a Holy Mass celebration in the church of the Queen of the Holy Rosary, which was led by the archbishop of Vrhbosna in peace, cardinal Vinko Puljić.

Concelebrating with the cardinal were: vicar general of the Vrhbosna archdiocese, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, director of the Centre, rev. Mario Ćosić and several priests, among whom were directors of other Catholic school centres. Before the start of the Holy Mass celebration, the present priests, nuns, professors, teachers and students were greeted by the teacher at the boarding school of the KŠC Sv. Josip and the rector of the church of Queen of the Holy Rosary, rev. Sandro Jurešić.

Introducing the Holy Mass celebration, the archbishop of Vrhobosna in peace, first congratulated the patron of KŠC Sv. Josip and name day to all Josephs and Josephines.

At the beginning of his sermon, the cardinal said that every man stands before the secret of life. "Every human being created by God has a mission. No one on this earth is redundant. Everyone is important to God. And he gives everyone assignments. Here we see in the opening prayer that God

trusted Joseph, gave him the greatest responsibility, because he entrusted him with the greatest sanctuary on earth - he entrusted him with his incarnated son and his sinless mother", said the preacher, pointing out how St. Joseph doesn't really have much of a story in the gospels.

"... But it has what we all admire; This trust that God gave him, he carried out so conscientiously. He passed the tests. There is nothing in life without trials! And Joseph's trial was; Look, Maria is carrying a fruit under her heart, but she doesn't know how to interpret it... because she thinks humanly. He doesn't sleep, he can't explain that secret to himself. There is no doubt about Maria, but still, she does not know how to explain herself. And God saves him with his message: What Mary carries under her heart is from the Holy Spirit", encouraged the cardinal, emphasizing what he admires about St. Joseph. This is his faith in God - and that is why God had faith in him.

In the following, the preacher reminded why KŠC took St. Joseph as patron. "... He was a worker, but he was also an educator. There is no more valuable mission on this earth than to help man to become man. And that is the most important task of the Catholic School Centre - to help these young people to be human. To be people of responsibility, of trust - people of conscience", Cardinal Puljić concluded.

After the Holy Mass, the ceremony continued in the Centre, and it traditionally started with the hymn performed by the Centre Choir under the direction of Choir leader Ana Andrla Imamović. The program continued with the music-dance-scenario presentation Love Conquers all, with which the students, under the guidance of the professor, tried to find answers to numerous questions and present the thoughts that guide them through everyday situations. Elementary and high school students acted in the play, as well as teacher Ema Topalović, who played the role of a class teacher. Judging by the reaction of the audience, the young actors succeeded in their intention.

After the performance, Cardinal Puljić handed certificates of appreciation to the retired employees: accountant Vesna Tvrtković and geography professor Meri Radišić Dedić, while the third retiree, technical education teacher Stanko Kordić, was prevented from coming and receiving the certificate.

The Lukić-Dlouhi award for the best student among elementary school students of the Catholic School System for Europe went to Uma Smajlović, a student in the 9th grade.

At the end of the program, which was designed by Nataša Kelić, and led by Anja Bošnjak and Jan Janićijević, director Ćosić addressed the audience with appropriate words, thanking everyone for coming and the support they give to the Centre, and Cardinal Puljić, recalling the first days of KŠC Sveti Josip.

With the establishment of KŠC Sv. Josip in Sarajevo (wartime) in 1994, Catholic schooling began in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Catholic School Centres. Auxiliary bishop of Vrhbosnaa, Msgr. Dr. Pero Sudar, as a promoter of Catholic education in BiH, after establishing the KŠC in Sarajevo, on behalf of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, soon established similar school centres in Zenica, Tuzla, Travnik, Konjic and Žepče.

There are three schools in the Sarajevo Catholic School Centre: Primary School, General High School and High School of Medicine.
