Holy Mass and commemoration at Radimlja

On May 29th, the Eucharist was celebrated at Radimlja near Stolac, and a prayer and commemoration was held for all those killed at this location in the Second World War and the post-war period.

The meeting began with the intonation of the anthem of the Croatian people, followed by a minute of silence and prayer for the victims of Radimlja and all other execution sites of Croatian soldiers and civilians in World War II and the post-war period. The Holy Mass was preceded by the laying of wreaths and the lighting of candles. Wreaths were laid at the monument by numerous delegations, including the Croatian National Assembly and the Honorary Bleiburg Squadron.

The Eucharist was then led by the Episcopal Vicar for the Diocese of Trebinje and Mrkan, rev. Antan Luburić, in concelebration with 14 priests, among whom was the parish priest of Stolac, OFM Ljubo Planinić.

The liturgical celebration was animated by the united choir from the Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan dioceses.

Let us remind you that one branch of the Way of the Cross of the Croatian people ended at Radimlja near Stolac, and it is estimated that about 10 000 people were killed there.
