The people of Sarajevo celebrated the feast of St. Joseph in the parish church of the same name in the settlement of Marijin Dvor.
The central Holy Mass was led by the professor at the KBF, dr. rev. Hrvoje Kalem. In the crowded church, which is also a national monument of BiH, 13 priests concelebrated, among whom was the parish priest dr. rev. Anto Ćosić, acting Dean of the Sarajevo Deanery.
Rev. Kalem, in his sermon, spoke about St. Joseph through the prism of the fear of God as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Distinguishing man’s natural fear from what man should “learn”, he pointed out that the more man fears God, he is happier. He further pointed out that the lack of that fear is actually a sign of atheism. “What kind of compromises is man ready for without the fear of God: the compromises that make him dependent on this world - on a world that has long since pushed God out of its centre, and lately from the periphery”, warned rev. Hrvoje and pointed out to the figure of St. Joseph, who did not make such compromises, but “loved God precisely because he feared God and entrusted all his things to him”.
By the way, the religious community of the capital, founded in 1940, was preparing for the patron saint with a triduum led by rev. Ivan Matijević, associate at NCM John Paul II.
