It was solemn on November 3rd in Kupres, when the 28th anniversary of the liberation of the city was marked with a Holy Mass, prayer for the dead, laying of wreaths and an academy.
Church of the Holy family, the largest church in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was filled with veterans, numerous guests and other residents of Kupres. OFM Miljenko Mika Stojić, one of the first military chaplains of the HVO, celebrated the Holy Mass in concelebration with several priests. At the beginning, the parish priest of Kupres, rev. Tomislav Mlakić, greeted those present, reminding them that “160 lives are embedded in the foundations of our freedom on the Kupres plateau”.
In the appropriate homily, OFM Mika emphasized, among other things, how the men stood up for the homeland and in defence of human lives, and invited those present to pray that “their sacrifice does not remain fruitless”, especially in today's time of emigration.

The liturgical celebration was animated by the big and the children's parish choirs.
After the Eucharist, a memorial service was offered next to the cross for those who died in the Second World War, after which a solemn procession followed. A ceremonial academy was held on the plateau in front of the central monument, where numerous political representatives of the Croatian people, including the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, spoke.
In the autumn afternoon, the veterans continued socializing, and war friends from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia got together.
