177th Anniversary of Birth and Baptism of Stadler

The solemn Eucharistic celebration on January 26th, on the occasion of the central celebration of the 177th anniversary of the birth and baptism of the servant of God Josip Stadler, the first Archbishop of Vrhbosna, was led in the parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Slavonski Brod by Msgr. Ratko Perić, bishop of Mostar-Duvno and Apostolic Warden of Trebinje-Mrkan.

In addition to the parish priest and the sanctuary manager, Ivan Lenić, among others, Msgr. Pavo Juričić, postulator of the Stadler’s cause, also concelebrated.

In his sermon, bishop Perić first explained that Pope Francis had decreed that on the Third Sunday in the year, the Catholic Church would celebrate the Word of God Sunday, wanting to emphasize the importance of the Word of God for spiritual life. He then spoke of the servant of God Stadler and informed that faith, hope, and love “formed in Stadler as the true candidate for the altar”. At the end of the sermon, he spoke to the candidates for the First communion about the sacraments Stadler received at that church in Slavonski Brod.

Then, about 80 candidates for the First communion during the Holy Mass renewed their baptismal promises in preparation for their First Communion.

At the end of the Eucharist, the parishioners came to the parish church of Stadler's baptism where a prayer was prayed for his proclamation as blessed.

The Holy Mass celebration was animated by a large choir led by sister Cecilia Kolarić, Ursuline sister.
