The memorial of the birth and baptism of the servant of God Josip Stadler, the first archbishop of Vrhbosna, was celebrated on January 24th in his home parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Slavonski Brod.
The spiritual program began with the lighting of candles at Stadler’s memorial near his birthplace, and prayer. This was followed by a procession through the streets of the city to the Catechetic Centre of the Parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, where the Eucharist was led by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić in concelebration with six priests, among whom was the parish priest Anđelko Cindorij.
In his sermon, Msgr. Vukšić first spoke about the life of St. Francis De Sales, whose memorial was also celebrated, and reminded how this saint and servant of God Josip Stadler are connected by the fact that they both founded one religious community: St. Francis De Sales founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary, and Stadler founded the Servants of the Little Jesus (SMI).
By the way, during the Holy Mass, five SMI nuns who are celebrating golden jubilees this year, 50 years of monasticism: sister M. Admirata Lučić, sister M. Jadranka Lacić, sister M. Svjetlana Leko, sister M. Beatis Čajko and sister M. Alemka Šiljeg, renewed their vows.
The Holy Mass celebration ended with an appropriate prayer for Stadler’s beatification.
The Eucharist was animated by the parish choir led by sister Cecilia Kolarić, OSU.
