23rd Catechetical day of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna


Organized by the Catechetical Office of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, the 23rd Catechetical Day of the Archdiocese was held on August 31st at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo.

The Catechetical Day, a regular annual seminar for Catholic religious teachers in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, gathered 100 participants from all over the Archdiocese and they were welcomed by Dr. rev. Tomislav Mlakić, Director of the Catechetical Office of the Bishop’s Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of the Catechetical Office of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna.

Rev. Tomislav, welcomed the gathered, especially cardinal Vinko Puljić, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna and new general vicar of the Archdiocese Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, and reminded of the theme of this 23rd Catechetical Day of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna - the Synod.

After this, the commemorative lecture on the theme of The view of the so far work of the Synod of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna 2012.-2019. was delivered by Archbishop Vinko.

After the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences and suggestions, as well as a brief break, that is, the opportunity for the sacrament of confession, in the seminary church of St. Cyril and Methodius the Holy Mass was led by cardinal Vinko Puljić in communion with Msgr. Ćosić, rev. Tomislav, venerable Zdenko Spajić, rector of the Theological Seminary of Vrhbosna and rev. Ivan Dragičević, a future religious teacher in Odžak.

During the mass celebration, 20 canonical missions for religious teachers, necessary for the performance of catechetical duty were handed out; seven for indefinite, five temporary and eight for the first time.

Before the division of the canonical missions, rev. Mlakić addressed the present, thanking the Archbishop for his trust and pastoral care, the priests who were available for the sacrament of confession, and all the faithful for all the good they do in raising children and young people in the faith, and instructed them to be joyful teachers.

The meeting allowed the religious teachers to renew their missions and exchange experiences with their colleagues, and the socialisation continued with a joint meal at the theology.
