Tuesday, November 19th marked the 25th anniversary of the Catholic School Centre (KŠC) Sv. Josip in Sarajevo. On this occasion, the Holy Mass was celebrated by cardinal Vinko Puljić, and a formal academy was held in the auditorium of the Centre.
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary KŠC Sv. Josip also marked the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Catholic Schools for Europe system, which later opened its doors in Zenica, Tuzla, Banja Luka, Travnik, Žepče, Konjic and Bihać.
The Holy Mass held at the Church of the Queen of the Holy Rosary in Banjski Brijeg in Sarajevo, led by Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić, was in concelebration with: bishop Pero Sudar, military bishop Tomo Vukšić, director of the KŠC Sv. Josip rev. Mario Ćosić, and about 25 other priests.
The Holy Mass was animated by singing and playing of members of the choir from the boarding school, led by prof. Andrea Krasnić.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of KŠC Sv. Josip a festive academy in the auditorium of KŠC under the slogan Future does not erase the traces was organised.
The introduction to the program was the singing of an anthem performed by the KŠC choir led by prof. Ana Andrle-Imamović.

Director Ćosić also gave welcoming speech and thanked all those who helped in some way in the work of the Centre. He especially welcomed cardinal Vinko Puljić, Apostolic Nuncio to BiH Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, bishop Sudar, military bishop Vukšić, all religious chiefs, as well as priests, monks, nuns and principals. He also welcomed the guests: High Representative to BiH Valentin Inzko, Croatian Ambassador to BiH Ivan Sabolić, Envoy of the Prime Minister of Croatia and his wife, Representative of the Government of Taiwan in Budapest Andrew Chang, Head of Charity organisation Renovabis Burkhard Hanke, as well as all others benefactors, the head of the Municipal Council of Centre Sarajevo Karolina Karačić, the director of the Bosniak gymnasium Naida Hota Muminović, representatives of Catholic schools in Šibenik and Ljubljana. “As someone who has been a part of this reality for 12 years, I can rightly say that the Catholic School Centre Sv. Josip is not only a school, but also a large and joyful family in which many dreams, and for some even all dreams, become reality. I do not doubt at all that you will agree with me that this is possible because the good dear God has gave us a good and dear bishop Pero Sudar, who in these 25 years has wisely designed, devotedly and knowingly directed every step of all Catholic school centres, and with that, the whole Catholic Schools for Europe system”, said the principal.
The next point of the program was addressing of Hanke who spoke about the process of helping the Catholic School Centre. “For us, the project - school for Europe, was and is a real project model, or rather, a lighthouse project. However, I do not want to remain silent of the fact that this has always been a great challenge. In many cases it seemed to us like the proverbial Don Quijote fight against windmills. Unfortunately, there were administrative obstacles, there were severe funding problems, and of course the departure of many Catholics from the region. But despite all these challenges, the development of schools for Europe has become a true success story, and Renovabis is happy to be able to contribute”, said the Head of Projects at the Renovabis Charitable Organization.

Then followed a scenic presentation of the Future does not erase the traces in which the students participated, prof. Vesna Krajinović and the ensemble of the General-Realistic gymnasium High School.
The closing point was addressing of Msgr. Pero Sudar, Bishop and Promoter of the System. “The older I get, the deeper I realize and more joyfully I accept the truth of life that in this country one can love oneself and what is his through true friendship and cooperation with others. Understanding and accepting this truth is the fundamental and most important goal of these schools, because they should be Catholic-recognizable, but this remains the most important task by which they can and should be acceptable to BiH”, said Msgr. Sudar adding that this is the root of the effort. He further expressed his gratitude to all those who helped build KŠC.
“All together, they have testified that in today's world that we so gladly moan about, there are people who are ready to participate in such wonders of kindness and solidarity. I believe that this fact, as well as the success of these schools, is their best appreciation”, said bishop Pero.
Program moderators were Arijan Stjepanović and Elmedina Suljić. After the solemn academy, a dinner was held in the hall of the Centre.
Let us remind that on November 16th, in the Great Hall of the KŠC Sv. Josip, was a presentation of two books that outline 25 years of the creation and realization of the idea of the Catholic Schools System for Europe - a monography Himna životu škole (Anthem to the life of the school) and a book by bishop Sudar Ono malo više (A little bit more).
