27th anniversary of the suffering of Croats

In the village Dusina, which territorially belongs to Zenica, and gravitates to Busovača, on January 27th with a Holy Mass marked the 27th anniversary of the murder of Croats in this region.

The celebration was organized this year again by the HVO H-B Busovača Association of Volunteers and Veterans of the Homeland War. Before the Holy Mass led by the Vicar of the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Busovača OFM Božidar Štrkalj, wreaths and candles were laid. Numerous members of their families, neighbours, locals, and members of the veterans' associations remembered the killed ones.

In his sermon, OFM Božidar pointed out that “they gathered in Dusina for the great tragedy and evil that has befallen us, i.e. for the murder of innocent people”. He encouraged those present to always choose good between evil and good without calling for revenge.

President of Federation of BiH Marinko Čavara was also present at the Holy Mass.

Let us recall: that day of the war in 1993. will remain written in black letters in the history of the Croats of Busovača and Central Bosnia. A heinous crime against the Croatian population was committed by members of the Bosniak Army of BiH when nine prisoners were killed at Stipe Kegelj's house, and the last, the tenth prisoner, Mladen Kegelj was tortured and killed in a village Muslim religious school.
