Anniversary of the crime against the Croats of Uzdol

On September 14th, the religious community at Uzdol in Rama marked the 29th anniversary of the massacre and murder of 29 civilians and 12 HVO soldiers, executed by members of the BiH Army as part of the Neretva '93 criminal operation.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by the parish priest of St. Elijah the Prophet in Kruševo, near Mostar, by rev. Marko Šutalo, and a dozen priests concelebrated, including the Uzdol parish priest, Rev. Ivan Ivančević.

In the appropriate homily, rev. Marko reflected on the cross. “Since our entire national history was marked by difficulties and crosses of all kinds, we turn here in Uzdol to the Holy Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, who felt the terrible drama of the struggle between good and evil during his torment. May he also announce to us, like Constantine in his time in the conflict with Maxentius that in the cross there is victory and salvation”, the preacher said, among other things.

After the Eucharist in the Memorial Centre, a memorial service was offered for all those killed.

Let us mention that the Hague Court acquitted the commander of the Neretva '93 operation, General of the BiH Army Sefer Halilović, and thus stopped the prosecution of the first military commander.

In 2021, Enver Buza, the commander of the Independent Prozor Battalion, was sentenced to 12 years for the crime, whose members committed the crime in Uzdol, while the actual instigators and executors remained unpunished.
