Members of the Franciscan Province of St. Cross of Bosna Srebrena gathered on September 14th to celebrate the traditional “Gathering on the Rags”, the annual meeting of all the brothers in the way that their founder, St. Francis, wanted.
The program began with the salutatory words of OFM Mirko Majdandžić, the Guardian in Fojnica, who recalled that the task of today's Friars was “to teach people to love this country as our old Friars loved it”. He also emphasized that today's Franciscan should not be afraid of anything. He gave the example of OFM Vitomir Slugić a well-known Bosnian friar, who in his life jokingly used to say about Christians: “We don’t need to be afraid - we are God’s first cousins!”
Then followed an adequate lecture by Msgr. Marko Semren, OFM Auxiliary Bishop of Banja Luka, on the theme of The Spiritual Image of OFM Anđelo Zvizdović.

Bishop Marko first recalled of this year's double anniversary: the 800th anniversary of the meeting of St. Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kamil, and the 555th anniversary of the meeting of OFM Angelo Zvizdović and Sultan Mehmed el-Fatih. He then recalled the words of Pope Francis, who said in his visit to Sarajevo: “Without a memory of the past, there is no bright future”, reminding all people of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the need to build peace that is born of dialogue between the different.
Then followed a Mass celebration, led by the Auxiliary bishop of Banja Luka, with the concelebration of OFM Joz Marinčić, Provincial of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Ivan Sesar the Definitor General, and OFM Miljenko Šteka, Provincial of Herzegovina.
OFM Ivan preached the homily.
After the Holy Mass, followed a joint photographing of Meeting participants in front of the statue of OFM Anđelo Zvizdović, which was erected and blessed on September 13th in front of the monastery of Fojnica.
