The smallest parish of Sarajevo – the one of St. Leopold Mandić, in Briješće, on October 20th, celebrated Mission Sunday. There was also a celebration of baptism on that occasion.
The Holy Mass in the parish church, filled by believers, was led by rev. Josip Vajdner, editor in chief of Katolički tjednik. He also baptized little Nika Iviš during the Holy Mass, which was an occasion for emphasizing in the homily the importance of the faithful mission based precisely on baptism.
In the context of Mission Sunday, he emphasized the need for a personal response of each baptised person to the gospel question of Jesus: “When the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth?” From there he encouraged praying for all the missionaries, especially those from the Croatian Church.
After the Holy Mass, the believers stayed for a long time talking and socializing in the churchyard and the parish house, where the little Nika's family prepared a snack for everyone present.
This was, according to the parish priest, first baptism of a baby in his five years of pastoral service in Briješće.
