On December 8th, on the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Bishop Petar Palić celebrated Holy Mass in the church of St. Jacob in Međugorje.
Concelebrating with him were the Apostolic Visitator with a special role for the parish of Međugorje, Archbishop Msgr. Henryk Hoser, parish priest OFM Marinko Šakota and several other priests. Archbishop Hoser greeted Bishop Peter.
In a sermon on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Msgr. Palić said that “the believer's view on this day should be focused on God, who in his plan of salvation decided to choose one of us to be the mother of his Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer.” “God chooses Mary to give birth to the Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, free from the stain of original sin. The choice is not Mary's merit, gained in this valley of tears, but the project of God's love”, Bishop of Mostar explained and said that “Mary's history is our history as well”.
At the end of the Holy Mass, the parish priest thanked the bishop and presented him with an art painting and flowers.
This was the first visit of Msgr. Palić to the parish of Međugorje since he took over the Episcopal ministry on September 14th.
