Bishops of Umbria on pilgrimage in Croatia and BiH


Eight bishops from Italy's Umbria, led by President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Gualitier Bassetti, were on a pilgrimage to Croatia and BiH from July 18th to July 22nd.

On the Feast of St. Elijah, on July 20th, the Italian bishops, together with Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, celebrated Holy Mass in Sarajevo’s Cathedral.

After the Holy Mass, Italian bishops were guests of cardinal Puljić on a dinner at the premises of the Vrhbosna Ordinary, where the host presented to them the current state of affairs in the Church and the state. The theme of the war was also inevitable.

Beside cardinal Bassetti, the pilgrims were also: Msgr. Renato Boccardo, Msgr. Mario Ceccobelli, Msgr. Luciano Paolucci Bedini, Msgr. Domenico Cancian, Msgr. Giuseppe Piemontese, Msgr. Benedetto Tuzia, Msgr. Marco Salvi and their entourage Amilcare Conti, Mariangela Gordini, Elisabetta Lomoro and Giacomo Gambassi.

On their way, they visited Split, Mostar and Sarajevo. In the capital of BiH, they visited: Katolički tjednik, NCM Ivan Pavao II, FONSS student dormitory, and Our Lady's Sanctuary in Stup.
