In Sarajevo cathedral of the Sacred Heart on Holy Wednesday a Holy Mass for oil blessing was celebrated, and it was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Puljić, in concelebration with the Apostolic nuncio in BiH Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, general vicar of the Archdiocese Msgr. Luka Tunjić, canons and about 80 other priests.
With them, numerous believers, nuns, theologians and soldiers were present, and the liturgical singing was animated by the choir of theologians of Vrhbosna Theological Seminary, Stjepan Hadrović, under the guidance of rev. Marko Stanušić.
As archbishop Puljić reminded, the celebration of oil blessing and the celebration of priestly communion, instead on the Holy Thursday, is celebrated regularly at the Vrhbosna Archdiocese on Holy Wednesday, so that priests from the whole archdiocese could participate in the great number. After the reading of the Scriptural readings and the proclaimed Gospel, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna sent a commemorative homily.
Then followed a ritual of renewal of priestly promises which the priests accepted at their ordination. Before the Lord’s Prayer, the oil for the Holy sacrament of anointing of the sick was blessed.
After the prayer after Communion, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna blessed the oil for sacrament of Confirmation, sent by a believer from Istria, that is used in baptism, confirmation, in the ordination of priests and bishops, and in the consecration of the church and altar.
The Eucharistic Celebration, Archbishop Vinko, completed with the blessing of God, and after the Mass, oil was shared to the present priests for whom was organized a lunch.
