In Sarajevo's cathedral of the Heart of Jesus on June 16th, in the evening hours at the time of the holy mass, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna Vinko card. Puljić blessed the restored organs and their collaudation was organized. After the Eucharist, Hartmut Feifel from Aachen in Germany, treated all present at the cathedral with a concert of organ music.
The celebration started with a procession from the sacristy to the cathedral choir where card Puljić started a mass celebration and blessed the organ. Apostolic Nuncio in BiH Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, auxiliary bishop of Vrhbosna Dr. Pero Sudar, rector of the cathedral Msgr. Ante Meštrović, honorary canon of the Kaptol of Vrhbosna Msgr. Heribert August, from the German diocese of Aachen and 15 other priests concelebrated.
The cardinal emphasized from the choir that the Eucharistic celebrations were more ceremonial with the sound of the organ: "The use of musical instruments during the Mass is primarily to celebrate God and consecration of people. It is an excellent sign that by loving each other and glorifying God, we fulfil His commandments", the archbishop noted.
After the blessing of the organ, Cardinal and concelebrants returned to the Presbytery, and Mass continued with the animation of the Cathedral mixed choir Josip Stadler, under the direction of rev. Marjan Stanušić.
In his sermon, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna first spoke of the history of the construction of the cathedral that was made by the servant of God Josip Stadler from 1884. to 1889. He then spoke about its reconstruction on three occasions: for the first time in 1935, on the centennial of construction and in the end of 2010 and 2011 .
"The last reconstruction brought her original appearance thanks to our benefactors from Germany, and of the honorary canon, Msgr. Heribert from Aachen diocese in particular. With his help, we have also been rebuilding the organs that were made in Zagreb in 1885. The organ was thoroughly restored by Hans-Peter Klein" cardinal Puljić said and sincerely thanked numerous donator friends from Germany, repeating that there would be no reconstruction of the cathedral or the restoration of the organ if there was not them.
After Mass, prof. Feifel started the concert on the organ, and five different author's compositions were performed.
After the concert, a reception was held at the Priest's home of Vrhbosna Archdiocese for all benefactors arriving from Germany.
The cathedral's organ was created by the Heferer company from Zagreb in 1885., and in the same year they were exhibited in Budapest and on that occasion were awarded a prize. They were installed in the cathedral of the Heart of Jesus in the summer of 1889.
They were partially renovated in 1932. and 1989. and have been almost entirely preserved to date. During the last war the cathedral was bombarded, so the organs were damaged due to moisture and grenade detonation.
The thorough restoration of the organ began in 2014. and, with breaks, lasted until June 2017.
