Candidate admittance to the holy orders „Admisio ad ordines“


With the solemn Eucharistic celebration at the parish church of St. Mother Theresa in Vogošća, near Sarajevo, on the name day of Mathew the Apostle, May 14th, that was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, the seminarians of the Archdiocese’s international seminary Redemptoris Mater, Mislav Anton Botica (Split, Croatia) and Nilson Gerardo Andrade Ibarra (Garzon, Colombia) were admitted among the candidates for the holy orders of deacons and presbyters (Admissio ad ordines).

At the beginning of the Holy Mass celebration, welcoming words were sent by the rector of the seminary Redemptoris Mater dr. rev. Michele Capasso. He greeted everyone that participated in the concelebration: Msgr. Dr. Pavo Jurišić, dr. Darko Tomašević, dean of the KBF in Sarajevo, dr. Josip Knežević, rector of the Vrhbosna seminary, rev. David Trujilo, parish vicar from Žepče, rev. Jošt Mezeg, vice rector of the seminary Redmptoris Mater in Vogošća, family and friends of the two seminarians and other guests.

He said that acceptance of the admission is first step to the presbyterate and that the two seminarians had a three day spiritual preparation for this day.

After the homily, the act of the acceptance of the candidates took place.

At the end of the Holy Mass celebration, cardinal Puljić handed out the diplomas to the two candidates. The singing at the Holy Mass was conducted by the seminarians of the International seminary Redemptoris Mater and the mission family ad gentes from Sarajevo.

The celebration was continued by a dinner in the building of the seminary where an appropriate musical program was conducted by the seminarians.
