On the feast of Candlemas - Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, on Tuesday, February 2nd, in the Sarajevo Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Day of Consecrated Life at the level of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese was celebrated with a solemn Holy Mass.
The Holy Mass was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, in concelebration with the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Jozo Marinčić, and about 20 other priests.
First, the Archbishop blessed the candles and congratulated the gathered nuns on the Day of Consecrated Life, and then followed a procession with candles inside the church because it could not be held around the cathedral due to the cramped space.
After the sermon and prayer of the faithful, the nuns and theologians silently brought gifts: candles, Communion bread and wine. After the Eucharistic prayer, the monks and nuns who were present prayed a prayer for the renewal of their religious vows.
During the Eucharistic celebration, the singing was animated by sister M. Julijana Djaković and OFM Emanuel Josić with the participation of the Franciscan Theological Choir Fra Nenad Dujić. The traditional meal for the participants of the celebration was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the evening, on the eve of the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord - Candlemas, on February 1st, in the Sarajevo Cathedral, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar was held, followed by Holy Mass led by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić in concelebration with the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Jozo, the Definitor and Economist, OFM Nikica Vujica, and six other priests.
Adoration was animated with appropriate texts by the Sisters Servant of the Little Jesus, and the First Evening prayer was said by the theologians of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, led by the educator at the Franciscan Theological Seminary, OFM Danijel Nikolić. The choir Fra Nenad Dujić under the direction and organ accompaniment of OFM Emanuel Josić was in charge of the liturgical singing.
In addition to a large number of consecrated persons, lay believers, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, was also present.
