Catholic cemetery Veresika damaged again

Catholic cemetery Veresika, in Tetima in Tuzla, was damaged again on January 24th.

“Pots, statues, candles have been damaged, and some graves opened. This hurts people a lot. People here don't know why this is happening anymore because it's not the first time. We are upset”, said Nedjeljko Jurkić, a Tetima resident and member of the Parish council of the parish of St. Peter and Paul from Tuzla, managed by the Franciscan Fathers.

The inspection of the damaged site was also carried out by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla County, however, the guardian of the Franciscan monastery of Tuzla, OFM Željko Nikolić, expressed concern about such frequent misdeeds.

“On behalf of the Franciscan Monastery in Tuzla, I regret that these unpleasant events are happening again and that it happened on the edge of our monastery area where our important branch church is located and where the people who are our main support live. It's not the first time this is happening, but the opening of the graves of the deceased certainly speaks to the mental state of the society in which we live, and such an act is not a good message”, said the guardian of the Franciscan monastery in Tuzla, OFM Željko.

The locals are very concerned about why such vandal act is happening, because, as they say, nothing was taken away, but destroyed and damaged, and the motive of self-interest can be ruled out.
