Worshipers of the Servant of God OFM Lovro Milanović gathered for the 39th time on August 26th and 27th in Staro Selo and Turić.
This year's spiritual program began with a prayer at the chapel of martyrdom in Staro Selo, from where the procession continued towards the Turić cemetery, where Holy Mass was celebrated by the parish priest in Špionica, OFM Pero Baotić, with concelebration by the parish priest in Turić, rev. Ilija Matanović and six other priests.
In the sermon, OFM Pero pointed out that it is a gift of mercy "that Jesus repeats to us today through our Friar Lovre those same words: 'He who believes will be saved', and he who does not live by his faith is already condemned because he has trampled on his faith, he does not testify it with his life and his deeds". Following this, he underlined how Friar Lovro testified his faith and devotion to Jesus with his blood.
This year's OFM Lovre's young Sunday program ended with a Holy Mass at the grave of the "saint in the people" on August 27th.
Let us remind you that Brother Lovro was born in 1777 in Sarajevo. At the age of 15, he entered the Franciscan Order, but it is not known where he studied and when he was ordained a priest. After pastoral work in the parishes of Kraljeva Sutjeska and Velika, he was moved to Tramošnica, where he was martyred on February 3rd, 1807, in the village of Turić. Regardless of the fact that the Church still has not officially declared him a saint, the rumour about his sanctity has not subsided for more than 200 years.
