On the occasion of the day of blessed Martyrs of Drina, December 15th, Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić in Goražde celebrated Holy Mass, and then beside the memorial, prayed for the proclamation of the Drina Martyrs as holy.
Cardinal Puljić, in association with the Bishop of Mostar-Duvno and Apostolic Warden of Trebinje-Mrakan, Msgr. Ratko Perić, and the military bishop in BiH, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, on the Third Sunday of Advent, December 15th, in the chapel of the parish centre of St. Dominic in Goražde led a solemn mass on the commemoration day of the blessed martyrs – sister Marija Jula Ivanišević and four other sisters known as the Martyrs of Drina.
The manager of the parish of Goražde, rev. Josip Tadić made a welcome speech at the beginning and thanked numerous pilgrims from almost all of BiH.
After the Holy Mass, everyone went to the other side of the Drina and beside the memorial, prayed for the proclamation of the Drina Martyrs as holy. They were joined by the envoy of the Goražde Mufti Remzija ef. Pitić and the orthodox parish priest of Goražde Mihajlo Andrić.
The mayor of Goražde, Muhamed Ramović also addressed the attendees, saying the City Council has adopted a regulation plan that provides for a church dedicated to nuns and will be located near the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Government building.
