Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Kupres


Organized by Kupres associations from the Homeland War, Kupres Municipality and the HR-H-B Special Police Association from the Homeland War, the 25th anniversary of the liberation of this city was officially celebrated in Kupres on November 3rd.

On the same day, 13th anniversary of the Special Police Association of the MUP of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna, was also marked.

The commemoration program began at 8 AM by laying wreaths and burning candles in front of the mass grave Ogledala for the victims of World War II, and in front of the Suho Polje memorial, Kupreško polje and Vukovarci memorials. Then the Holy Mass was celebrated in the Holy Family church, with the concelebration of 10 priests, among whom was the parish priest rev. Tomo Mlakić, and it was led by msgr. Tomo Vukšić, Military Bishop in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The solemn mass celebration with the lead of the liturgical singing was magnified by the Croatian Navy klapa Sv. Juraj, and the organ was played by Ivan Bevanda, a commander of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the Mass, wreaths were laid and candles lit on the cross in front of the Kupres Holy Family church in memory of the fallen Croats in World War II. Then a solemn victory rally of veterans through the city was held, accompanied by the I. Band of the Orchestra of the armed forces of BiH.

At the end of the program, a solemn academy was held on the occasion of Kupres Liberation Day at the Croatian Cultural Centre Kupres, followed by socializing with veterans.
