Celebration of patron of the parish of St. Luke

The Catholic community in Sarajevo's municipality Novi Grad, celebrated its patron saint on October 18th.

Holy Mass on the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist was led by OFM Ivan Šarčević, Professor of Franciscan Theology in Nedžarići, with the concelebration of several priests.

At the beginning of the Eucharist, the parish priest rev. Željko Vlajić welcomed those present who, respecting the new measures of the County Crisis headquarters regarding coronavirus pandemic, filled the benches of the church.

In his homily, OFM Ivan emphasized that it was very good hit that St. Luke is the patron saint of this parish, of this part of the city because “perhaps today we need God's mercy as Luke Evangelist teaches us”. “In Luke's Gospel, God in Jesus Christ wants all people to be saved. God reveals himself to all people in his Son... There is nothing that God will not forgive if we sincerely repent. Together with God we can come out of this”, the preacher said, adding that: “…we in this city can do good deeds by believing in God's mercy.”

After the Holy Mass, the parishioners continued to socialize with refreshments.
