On the Feast of Pentecost, May 23rd, the solemn Eucharistic celebration in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, in concelebration with seven priests.
Before the beginning of the Holy Mass, in the lobby of the cathedral, cardinal Puljić was greeted by the first communicants and Confirmation candidates, as well as by the cathedral parish priest venerable Mato Majić, who introduced to the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, two first communicants Marija Šušak and Luka Perić, and eight Confirmation candidates: Magdalena Vasilj and Matea Radman from the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish - Cathedral, Gabriela Vlahović, Katarina Jeftenić, Jurica Milas and Katarina Tvrtković from the parish of St. Francis of Assisi (Dobrinja) and Tina and Nela Andrić from the branch of St. Bonaventura (Visoko).
A solemn procession followed, after which parish priest Majić greeted all those gathered and addressed cardinal Vinko in a special way, confirming that this year’s Confirmation candidates really tried to attend religious classes and Holy Masses and that they gained a solid knowledge of their faith.
The sermon was followed by the distribution of the Holy Confirmation. Holy Mass readings and the prayer of the faithful were read by the first communicants and Confirmation candidates and their parents and godparents.
Cardinal Puljić distributed Holy Communion to the first communicants and Confirmation candidates. In addition, he encouraged godparents and parents to stand as support behind young people, not only symbolically, but also truly because it is a commitment they have made on their journey. An obligation to be in the service of good.
At the end of the Holy Mass, the representative of the Croatian Delegation of Knight’s order Claude Grbeša spoke about the activities of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and the Croatian Main Delegation. Also, on this occasion, the Croatian Knights remembered their deceased brothers, and especially prayed for the Christians in the Holy Land who are additionally endangered in the current Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.
