On Thursday, November 14th at the Shrine of St. Nikola Tavelić in Kovačići in Sarajevo, memorial day of this saint, martyr and witness of the faith was solemnly celebrated.
The Eucharistic celebration was led by the parish priest of St. Anthony of Padua parish from Bihać, OFM Bono Tomić. Jozo Marinčić, the provincial of the Bosna Srebrena province and several other priests were in concelebration. OFM Damir Pavić, the guardian of the monastery in Kovačići, greeted those present at the beginning.
In a commemorative homily, OFM Bono pointed out that the saints, especially the martyrs, cannot be fully understood by believers if they have never been so convinced in their lives of something that they were prepared to die for it or at least suffer. “In the first place, the saints were telling the truth to the people, knowing that only the truth was needed to awaken conscience and encourage change for the better. Secondly, the saints referred people in their humility to God and to live with God”, said OFM Bono.
The Holy Mass celebration was musically animated by the theologians of Franciscan Theology in Sarajevo, and at the end gathering and a snack in the lobby of the shrine were organised.
The celebration of the memorial day was preceded by the Triduum Holy Masses, led by OFM Davor Petrović, OFM Nikica Vujica and OFM Damir Pavić.
