With the entry into the new year 2023, the Carmelite Order began celebrating the anniversaries related to St. Little Therese, which will last until 2025.
On this occasion, the Provincial of the Croatian Carmelite Province of the Holy Father Josip, Father Dario Tokić, celebrated the jubilee anniversary of this saint's birthday together with the Carmelite sisters in the parish and the sanctuary of the Assumption of the BVM on Stup in Sarajevo.
The program began on January 1st with a stimulating lecture in which Father Tokić introduced the sisters to the three-year anniversary celebration, in which the entire Order will reflect on the rich spiritual legacy of this church teacher.
So on her 150th birthday, January 2nd, he celebrated Holy Mass in the monastery church. In the sermon, he pointed out, among other things, that like St. John the Baptist, Little Therese “says that she is not important, but that Jesus is important”. He further explained how this church teacher encourages to love Jesus and to be ready to show him your love. He encouraged, therefore, to pray to this saint “in order to help understand and live sympathetic love for God”.
It is important to note that the importance of Little Therese was also recognized by UNESCO and declared her a person of importance for world heritage by including January 2nd in its calendar.
