At the beginning of the Holy Mass, military chaplain in Kiseljak, rev. Ljubo Zelenika greeted the present officials of the FBiH Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces and the priests and present believers. At the beginning of his homily, rev. Goran said that the faithful gathered today wanting to think, pray and learn, but also to learn lessons for the future.

“In that 1994, was a ripe time to create a crown defence of Croats in these parts, and it is the foundation of the Third Guards Brigade. And as today people like to say that we survived, we should say that we survived only because the people have chosen to defend their sacred things: their homes, their church, their people”, said the preacher, and compared the project from 28 years ago with the Holy Mass Sacrifice .

"... For with the Holy Mass we bring gifts that God has given us, we bring bread and wine, our heart and our sincere faith and our sincere love. What happened to those days? People, soldiers wearing uniforms, who fought, who clashed with the sword threatening to cut down the people here, they decided to sacrifice on the altar of their people, their faith, most of what they had: their heroic heart, their great faith and their selfless love”, explained rev. Goran, noting that the impression that these ideals, after 28 years, have somehow fallen into the shadows, as if the courage and pure selfless love recoiled before personal interests.

“Therefore, under this Holy Mass we want to purify these ideals; We do not need divisions, we do not need an argument... because we belong to the same Croatian people, we pray the same God, in the end we love the same”, concluded the preacher.

The Eucharistic celebration with harmonious singing was animated by a military choir Sveti Martin.

After the Holy Mass, wreaths were laid in front of the memorial at the barracks “Mato Lučić Maturica”.

Third Guards Motorized Brigade was the Guards Brigade of Croatian Defence Council (HVO) during the war and after war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The brigade was founded on January 18^th 1994 by a decision of the General Staff of the HVO. The Command of the brigade was in the barracks “Busovača”. Before the construction of new barracks, the command of the brigade was in Vitez.

Together with three other Guards Brigade of HVO they formed the backbone of the defence of Croats in Bosnia. “Jastrebovi” successfully participated in actions in Central Bosnia, but also in the military and police operations in the Republic of Croatia, such as Maestral, Bljesak and Oluja.

On the occasion of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the 25^th anniversary of Operation Oluja in 2020, the brigade was awarded the Order of Nikola Šubić Zrinski.
