Celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Greek Catholic parish

On August 28th, bishop Milan Stipić of Križevci visited the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Devetina near Laktaši, which, according to the Julian calendar, celebrated its title that day.

Together with the parish priest father Andrije Prihoda, the Greek Catholic vicar in BiH father Miroslav Krnješin, other priests of the vicariate of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the participation of many believers, Bishop Stipić served the liturgy.

In his homily, he interpreted the mystery of the feast of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God to heaven. He called on the faithful to influence the Most Holy Mother of God as children influence their mothers in their needs and troubles. He encouraged those present to regularly participate in worship and receive the sacraments by which Christians are baptized on their way to their heavenly homeland.

After the Holy Mass, a gathering was organised.

By the way, the Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God in Devetina, about 20 kilometers from Banja Luka, is a Marian pilgrimage site for Greek Catholics of the Vicariate of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the Diocese of Križevci in BiH.
