Celebration of the heavenly patron of KŠC Don Bosco

On January 31st, the Catholic School Centre Don Bosco in Žepče celebrated the memorial of its heavenly patron and founder of the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco.

The Eucharist in the parish church of St. Anthony of Padua was led by the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina, OFM Miljenko Šteko, with the concelebration of 14 priests, among whom was the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna Msgr. Slađan Ćosić. The gathered were greeted by the head of the Salesian community in this city, rev. Mirko Barbarić.

In his homily, OFM Miljenko said that youth is always in the phase of finding its way to the goal. Aware that the goal is “a man according to God's measure”, the preacher briefly reflected on the life of Don Bosco. Pointing out that educational plans and upbringing methods are constantly changing in the civil field, he realized that in a dream God showed the young Don Bosco a method to be used that cannot be surpassed by any secular methods. In the end, he pointed out that God’s will is the existence of different life professions, but that nothing can be done well without the search for holiness.

The celebration of the Holy Mass was animated by the youth choir of KŠC Don Bosco.

The second part of the celebration took place in the large lobby of the Centre. It was part of the program filled with performances by choirs, soloists, occasional performances and the awarding of certificates of appreciation to employees who have worked for 20 or more years at KŠC Don Bosco. The gathered were greeted by the director of the Centre, rev. Ivan Širić, who mentioned that this school year the student dormitory under the auspices of the KŠC in Žepče also started working.

The celebration ended with a reception and socializing in the newly opened premises of the Centre.
