On the occasion of the blessing, the Bishop of Mostar-Duvno and apostolic administrator of Trebinje-Mrkan said that it is neither Croat’s, nor Bosniak’s nor Serb’s, but the House of God. "And whoever dares to raise his hand on that quiet altar, let him think good about himself, his neighbor and his house", said Msgr. Ratko who thanked the Orthodox and Orthodox Church for their great help in building the church.

Along with a large number of Catholic priests, believers and pilgrims, and delegation of the Eparchy of Zahum-Herzegovina and numerous Orthodox priests, the ceremony was attended by the Federation Finance Minister Jelka Miličević. She pointed out that the reconstruction of the church in Nevesinje and it’s blessing is a contribution to the peace in these areas.

Until recently dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Foča, and now a professor at the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Podgorica, father Boris Brajović for the new church in Nevesinje (destroyed 25 years ago and now built on the same grounds), donated an Orthodox icon (newly made, original, meter and a half in height) with the motif of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin, Our Lady, celebrated in the Catholic Church in Nevesinje.

The icon is placed on the side altar of the newly built church in Nevesinje. This is a great sign of peace, respect. With this act a message is sent that Orthodox people want to have Catholics for neighbors, and vice versa.
