The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, on February 19th, sent his personal, as well as on behalf of the members of the BK BiH, congratulations to the newly elected Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.
“Aware that you will be able to answer to your very responsible mission of patriarch only with God's help and with the prayers of the entire Serbian Orthodox Church to whose head you were elected, together with the bishops of our Bishop’s Conference I gladly unite my prayers to Christ the heavenly shepherd to inspire you permanently to always do his holy will”, said, among other things, cardinal Puljić and pointed out that the fact that he originates from the territory of BiH “will be an additional incentive to build a true ecumenical atmosphere in the spirit of Christ for the benefit of all members entrusted to our pastoral care.”
“Permanently aware of Christ’s prayer to Heavenly Father ‘that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me’ (John 17:21), we from BK BiH express openness for conversation and cooperation for the glory of God and the good of our faithful and all people”, wrote Archbishop Vinko and concluded with a prayer to the Holy Spirit to guide the steps of Patriarch Porfirije through peace and good.
