On Monday, October 19th, the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Sarajevo (KBF) celebrated its day - the feast of St. Luke, which was on Sunday October 18th - with a Eucharistic celebration, during which there was also the Invocation of the Holy Spirit for the beginning of the new academic year, and a solemn academy.
Holy Mass in the seminary church of St. Cyril and Methodius was led by the Grand Chancellor of this higher education institution, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić together with the Dean of the KBF Dr. venerable Darko Tomašević, Rector of the Vrhbosna Theological Seminary, Dr. venerable Zdenko Spajić and several other priests.
The Holy Mass in the hall Pavao VI., was followed by a solemn academic act moderated by theologian Josip Papak, and the program began with the singing of the student anthem Gaudeamus igitur led by baritone Dragan Pavlović with piano accompaniment by Danijel Žontar.
Dean Tomašević then addressed the audience, greeting cardinal Puljić, colleagues from the academic community, deans: Zuhdija Hasanović from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, OFM Danimir Pezer from Franciscan Theology, head of the Theological-Catechetical Institute in Mostar rev. Marko Šutalo, vice dean for teaching Dr. Suzana Vuletić, and other gathered professors and guests.
As usual, he briefly presented the activities and work of this higher education institution in the last year, thanking all the benefactors, and with special gratitude remembered the former professors of the Sarajevo KBF who passed away: Dr. Vikica Vujica and rev. Niko Luburić.
Afterwards, the Grand Chancellor of the KBF, Archbishop Puljić, addressed the audience briefly, congratulating the staff and students on their day.
This was followed by a lecture by Dr. rev. Josip Knežević on the topic of Stridon - Place of birth of St. Jerome.
After the presentation and the musical act, the promotion of the new masters of theology was organized - one of the most numerous generations. During the past year, 17 students at the Sarajevo’s Faculty of Catholic Theology successfully completed integrated philosophical and theological studies.
Awards were also given to the best students.
The cardinal presented the certificates of gratitude to the retired professors: rev. Ante Pavlović and Msgr. Tomo Knežević.
