In the cathedral in Kotor, on February 16th, Msgr. Ilija Janjić, bishop of Kotor, ordained rev. Željko Pasković for deacon. The priests of the Diocese of Kotor and the deacon from Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, rev. Petar Mihael (Adnan) Jašarević, concelebrated.
The bishop briefly described the development and importance of the deacon’s service in the Church, since its creation in the apostolic age, through the first centuries of the Church to the Council of Trent and our time.
"Today, the Church especially emphasizes that the Deacon’s Service has its starting point and origin in the Eucharist, and the basic duties of the deacon's service are altar and care for the necessary", bishop Janjić said and encouraged the new deacon to take care of his spiritual and intellectual development.
The Mass celebration was animated by choir from the new deacon’s parish of St. Mathew in Dobrota, directed by Silva Milošević, ika.hr reports.
Rev. Željko, son of Goran and Jovanka Pasković, was born in 1991 in Kotor where he finished elementary school. High school and three years of the Faculty of Civil Engineering he attended in Podgorica. In Sarajevo, in 2012. he started theology studies at the Catholic Theological University where he graduated in 2018. He received the services of lector and acolyte in Kotor.
