Deacon ordination of Ante Ljulj

On Saturday, November 16th, in Sarajevo's cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić ordained for Deacon, candidate Ante Ljulj, the theologian of the Archdiocesan Missionary International Seminary Redemptoris Mater.

In concelebration with the Archbishop were Apostolic Nuncio Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, Rector of the Archdiocesan Missionary International Seminary Redemptoris Mater rev. Michele Capasso and a dozen other priests.

After the candidate for the deaconate was introduced and the Christian believers expressed gratitude to God for the act, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna commended a commemorative homily.

Following the sermon, the ordination candidate expressed his willingness to accept a consecrated mission, to maintain the worship and to respect and obey the diocesan bishop.

Cardinal Puljić, by laying his hands and devoutly praying for candidate Ante Ljulja for the priesthood, shared the sacrament of the sacred order of deacons. Then the newly ordained deacon put on the official liturgical garb and at the end of the ceremony received the evangelistary from the archbishop's hands, and with him exchanged the peace, and then began worship at the altar.

At the end of the Holy Mass, Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić congratulated the new deacon, his parents, his family, friends and community. The archbishop told Deacon Ante that he would be sent to Macedonia for a deacon's ministry.

After the Eucharist, there was a joint photo shoot.
