In the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Osova near Žepče, a ceremony of consecration of the altar and blessing of the church was held on September 5th.
The solemn ceremony of consecration and Holy Mass was presided over by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, concelebrating with the parish priest OFM Antun Perković and about 20 priests who worked in this parish or have spiritual vocations that originated from it.
In his sermon, the cardinal compared the altar and the family table, saying: “The family home is the communion of the table of the Lord and that is why I want to encourage the preservation of that value. The church is the home of God and in that church there is a family table - an altar. In that house we eat his Word, and on that altar Christ’s bloodless sacrifice is present.” He also stressed the importance of witnessing, which often requires a sacrifice from the faithful without which there is no holiness.
After the homily, a rite of consecration of the altar was organized, in which the powers of St. Gennaro and Amand were incorporated and that were in the former altar as well.
At the end of the Eucharist, OFM Antun thanked the Cardinal and the present priests who were part of the spiritual building of the community of believers in Osova.
Socializing continued with a joint lunch and song.
