The religious community of the parish of St. John the Baptist in Uzdol is continuing the tradition of performing Lenten devotions in the open this year as well. On the Second Sunday of Lent, March 5th, in the afternoon, the devotion of the Way of the Cross was held on the Calvary of Uzdol.
The big wooden cross was carried from the first station to the Gradac hill by the cross bearers: Stipo Kolakušić, Josip Budim, Toni Kolakušić, Ivan Kolakušić, Jakov Kolakušić, Marinko Rumbočić, Niko Zelenika, Stjepan Rako, Ante Stojanović, Mirko Juričić, Ivan Juričić, Ivan Kolakušić and Mirko Kolakušić.
Between the stations, young parishioners led the Rosary prayer, and the text of the hymn Stala plačuć tužna mati (Stands crying sad mother) was sung by some members of the parish choir.
The devotion ended with the singing of the song Došli smo ti Majko draga (We have come to you, dear Mother), and a joint photo shoot.
The devotion of the Way of the Cross is also planned for the following Sundays until the Sunday of the Passion of the Lord - Palm Sunday, when a joint devotion is planned for the parishes of the Rama region in the parish of Rama-Šćit on the Gračac hill.
By the way, the first devotion of the Way of the Cross in Uzdol parish took place on Palm Sunday, April 5th, 2009, when the auxiliary bishop of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Pero Sudar blessed the Stations of the Way of the Cross of the Croatian suffering and the Votive Chapel of then Bl. Mother Teresa on the hill Gradac (917 alt.).
Let's remind you that the outdoor Stations of the Way of the Cross are marked with large stone crosses and stretch from the Ljubunac hamlet of Kolakušići to the top of the Gradac hill, that is, the beautiful viewpoint where the votive chapel of St. Mother Teresa, and there is also an archaeological site nearby.
