Don't be afraid, says St. Michael!

On the feast of the Holy Archangels, September 29th, the parish dedicated to St. Michael in Vareš solemnly celebrated its patron saint.

The Eucharist was led by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, concelebrating with nine priests, among whom was the parish priest OFM Leon Pendić.

In his homily, Archbishop Tomo recalled the task of believers who, like angels, should be the transmitters of God’s message to the people they meet. “Angels encouraged God’s creatures that we call people”, the archbishop said, referring to the example of Mary and her fiancé St. Joseph. Furthermore, referring to the unpleasant events in Vareš when the flag of the Croatian people was taken down in front of the church, he encouraged the gathered believers not to be afraid. “Do not be afraid because you have found grace, like God once said to Mary and Joseph, who were confused and a little afraid of what happened. Similarly, today in Vareš, Michael utters God's message: do not be afraid, Christian”, said, among other things, Msgr. Vukšić.

The Holy Mass was animated by the parish choir under the direction of sister Ružica Marijić.

The gathered believers, among whom was the President of FBiH Marinko Čavara, stayed after the Holy Mass in the parish yard with song and refreshments.
