Easter Vigil in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus


On Saturday, April 3rd, the Easter Vigil in the Sarajevo Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was led by the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić.

In concelebration were the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, Vicar General Msgr. Slađan Ćosić and seven other priests.

At the beginning, there was a service of light - blessing of the fire, lighting of the Easter candle, procession in the church and Hymn to the Easter candle, which symbolizes the Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament readings were then read, followed by the solemn singing of the Glory. After the New Testament text that was read, the great news of Christ's resurrection was announced, and then the Alleluia was sung and the Gospel was proclaimed. This was followed by a sermon by Msgr. Vukšić, after which, in the baptismal service, the renewal of baptismal vows was organized.

At the end of the vigil, the cathedral parish priest and dean of the Sarajevo deanery, venerable Mato Majić blessed the food.
