Ecumenical concert in Sarajevo Cathedral

Council for ecumenism and dialogue among religions and cultures of BK BiH organised an Ecumenical concert of Christians of Sarajevo, in Sarajevo’s Cathedral of Sacred Heart, on January 19th.

The gathered were greeted first by Msgr. Ivo Tomašević, general secretary of Bishop’s conference of BiH. After him, cardinal of Vrhbosna and president of the Council for ecumenism and dialogue among religions and cultures of BK BiH, Vinko Puljić, greeted the present: Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, apostolic nuncio in BiH and Msgr. Tomo Vukšić, military ordinary, as well as all other present. “It is important that together with the prayers – and it is said that the one that sings prays two times – is also this singing considered as a prayer, to accept our differences, accept it and respect it, and that way we enrich each other. We want to celebrate God together – everybody in their own way. In Bosnia there is a saying: ‘Let everybody pray according to their law to God’. In this spirit I want everybody to sing to God and to his glory according to their law, at the same time enriching their gathered community. I want to thank all cooperants in the name of the Council for ecumenism and dialogue among religions and cultures of BK BiH, especially to Msgr. Ivo Tomašević, general secretary of BK BiH who is actively involved in organising all the programme, but also to everybody else who contributed. We will finish the praying octave as per usual in the Orthodox cathedral in Sarajevo. I want this evening to be a beautiful spiritual enrichment. I thank for it will also bring us spiritual richness”, said cardinal Puljić.

At this year’s Ecumenical concert there were three choirs that performed: Serbian singing company Sloga, with conductor of choir Stefan Mojsilović, Mr. of church music; Musical band of Evangelic Church from Dolac Malta; and Cathedral mixed choir Josip Stadler, with conductor of choir rev. Marko Stanušić.

At the end of the concert, Msgr. Tomašević thanked all present, and especially performers that gave special contribution to this event and called all gathered for socialising at the premises of Vrhbosna theology seminary.
