On the feast of the Epiphany, January 6th, the Holy Mass celebration in the Sarajevo Cathedral was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, who on this day also marked the 30th anniversary of his Episcopal ordination.
Along with the Cardinal; the Vicar General of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić, Rector of the Kaptol of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Ante Meštrović and nine other priests concelebrated, with permanent deacon of Vrhbosna, Robert Čabraja, assisting at the altar.
At the beginning of the Eucharistic celebration, Vicar General Ćosić congratulated the Cardinal on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his Episcopal ordination: “On the feast of Epiphany in 1991., in the basilica of St. Peter in Vatican, on the hands of St. John Paul II., the Pope, you received the order of Bishop, and a few days later, you took over the administration of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese. In this joyful anniversary of your service, 30th by the grace of God, together with you, us the priests, monks, nuns and believers of the local Church in Sarajevo, want to send our prayers to Christ, the Good Shepherd, who has chosen you to be a bishop and our shepherd. At the same time, we would like to extend our sincere congratulations on the celebration of another anniversary that is a reminder to you personally, as well as to us, of this happy and gracious event of your life.”
Starting the Holy Mass celebration, cardinal Vinko thanked for the words, saying that there already was an external celebration of his anniversaries and stressed that this is a day of prayer, not only for him, but for all, so he called for the intercession of St. John Paul II. who ordained him.
The Holy Mass celebration ended with a Prayer for the Synod, an Angelic greeting and a solemn blessing, and it was animated by the choir of theologians of the Vrhbosna Theological Seminary Stjepan Hadrović, under the direction of rev. Marko Stanušić.
