Field blessing on the Križ cemetery

Traditional spring field blessing on the cemetery St. Mark-Križ in the parish of St. Joseph in Zenica was on April 25th, after which Holy mass was celebrated. The ritual of field blessing was performed by the parish priest rev. Vladimir Pranjić, while the Holy mass was led by rev. Dražen Kustura.

More than 150 parishioners gathered at the cemetery Križ this year at the field blessing that was done by parish priest Pranjić. After the blessing, Holy mass was led by rev. Kustura, a local son.

In a commemorative homily, referring to the Gospel, he said that one of first Jesus’ messages after His resurrection was the message of peace. “Today, many speak of peace, and we are aware that we live in a very unpeaceful world. True peace, shalom, the one that comes from God, is possible only if we are open to His blessing. True peace is impossible without His blessing”, said rev. Kustura and concluded: ”To truly feel God’s blessing in our life, strong faith is needed and openness to God’s leadership. When the peace rules over us, our families and parish community, we can expect it to rule in our society also.”

After the holy mass, according to old tradition, many that came to the cemetery that day visited their families and friends to share the joy of Easter together.

On the territory of St. Joseph’s parish in Zenica there are four local (Križ, Gradac, Ravne Njive I Drivuša) and one city cemetery (Prašnice), where, except burial, regularly, spring and autumn Holy masses are celebrated.
