Great number of pilgrims at the opening of May pieties in Olovo

Per tradition, the May piety at the level of Vrhbosna Archdiocese begins with pilgrimage to Our Lady of Olovo on May 1st.

The ceremonial Holy mass, as usual, was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, with the concelebration of the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Jozo Marinčić, the custodian of the Olovo Sanctuary, OFM Ilija Božić, and with a great number of other priests, especially the participants of the Provincial gathering of Bosna Srebrena.

After the procession with the miraculous image of Our Lady of Olovo, a Holy mass celebration began. The pilgrims were greeted and welcomed by the administrator of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Olovo OFM Ilija, and then by the provincial Marinčić.

The Cardinal, in his sermon, reminded that this year was proclaimed as the Year of Missions, which means that the Church understands its mission to proclaim and testify to the Gospel. "Not only in the missions, but also today - wherever we live, we are all called to be witnesses of the Risen Christ. Witnesses that we are Christ’s, witnesses that we are a living Church (...) We are all apostles, sent by the baptism to proclaim Jesus, to testify. We see from the first reading - the first Church after the resurrection of Christ experienced this communion. They were persistent in prayer, and they had Mother Mary with them... Today's Church must be equally brave, persistent in prayer together with Mother Mary", the Archbishop emphasized.

At the end of the Mass celebration, which was animated by the choir of Franciscan theology in Sarajevo OFM Nenad Dujić, the sanctuary administrator, thanked everyone who participated in this celebration and contributed to its organization.

Lunch for pilgrims - traditional military beans, was prepared by members of the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
