On the memorial of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, on June 21st, the patron saint of the seminary church in Travnik was solemnly celebrated.
The Eucharist was led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić in concelebration with the Archdeacon of Guča Gora, Msgr. Pavo Jurišić, the parish priest of Travnik and dean rev. Marko Mikić, rector of the seminary and director of KŠC Petar Barbarić rev. Željko Marić and about 10 other priests.
In his homily, the Cardinal stressed the importance of spiritual renewal, stating that man can “wear out” and therefore needs to be constantly renewed. In doing so, he noted how important it is for God to come first. Then he spoke about the life path of St. Aloysius and said that he stood out by courting the sick, during which he became infected and died. He reminded of his letter to his mother, from which nobility and purity of this saint’s soul can be read.
After the Holy Mass, cardinal Puljić, accompanied by a priest, blessed the restored crypt of the seminary church.
It is worth mentioning that before the Eucharist, a rosary was prayed by the ministrants who had been in the seminary for spiritual renewal for the past three days. There were a total of 15 of them from three parishes: Prozor, Bistrica near Žepče and Travnik.
