On May 22nd, a commemoration and Holy Mass celebration was held at Radimlja near Stolac for all Croatian Catholics killed in the Second World War and the post-war period.
The Eucharist was led by the Bishop in Peace, Msgr. Ratko Perić. First, in the afternoon at the monument, which was erected in 2005., this year's Stolac Confirmation candidates, together with the parish priest rev. Rajko Marković, prayed the rosary.
After the laying of wreaths, a Holy Mass followed, at which the parish priest of Blagaj-Buna and the court vicar of the Herzegovina dioceses, rev. Nikola Menalo, delivered a sermon in which he pointed out that Radimlja is situated at the place of ancient diocese of Trebinje-Mrkan and added that the faithful people of Radimlja were gathered by “a commemoration to a terrible inhuman tragedy”.
The Holy Mass was animated by the parish choir Mladi, and the commemoration and the Eucharist were broadcast live on Radio Herceg-Bosna.
By the way, according to research in the Stolac area, especially in Radimlja and in the surrounding pits, in May 1945., about 10 000 Catholics were killed.
