The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljić, on November 2nd celebrated the Eucharist in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the late Vrhbosna archbishops and auxiliary bishops, as well as for all deceased priests, monks and nuns who worked in the territory of this diocese.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by the Vicar General of the VN, Msgr. Slađan Ćosić and five other priests.
Introducing the Eucharistic celebration, the cardinal noted that many graves of the deceased cannot be visited, but all the dead can be included in prayers.
In his homily, he reminded that the Church prays especially for its deceased on All Souls' Day because it believes that at the moment of death the body dies and the soul lives. "We believe that these very souls are before the face of God and we pray for them. That is why today is called All Souls Day. Unfortunately, it is often called the day of the dead. In essence, it is actually the day of the living. We pray for those souls who are before the face of God, but may not yet have passed the purgatory, so we want to help them. We, the travelers on earth, the traveling Church, pray for the suffering Church”, explained the cardinal and reminded that the day before, they celebrated the glorified Church on All Saints' Day.
The Holy Mass was broadcasted live by Radio Marija BiH.
