At the local cemetery in Trusina, which belongs to the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Podhum - Žitače, on April 16th, on the 28th anniversary of the crimes against Croats, when six HVO soldiers were shot and 16 civilians brutally killed, a Holy Mass was served.
The program began with the laying of wreaths and candles in front of the monument to the victims, organized by the Association of killed, died and missing Croatian Veterans in the Homeland War Konjic, and then the Eucharist was celebrated at the local cemetery.
The Holy Mass, in concelebration with six priests, was led by the parish priest in Podhum - Žitače, OFM Ivica Karatović.
In his sermon, OFM Ivica thanked those present who came to the Holy Mass and for not forgetting their homeland and roots, and pointed out that “nothing was ever gained by the war”. He realized that through life one should help others, be a good person who can look others in the eye, and God will judge everyone at the end of life according to their deeds.
The Holy Mass was attended by about 80 people, both from the parish and the faithful who arrived from other parts of BiH. Modest socializing with evoking memories continued in family homes while respecting epidemiological measures.
