Holy Mass on the feast of Christ the King, November 22nd in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was celebrated by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić together with the Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tom Vukšić and with the concelebration of several priests.
At the Holy Mass introduction, the Cardinal reminded us that we are at the end of the church year and that on November 22nd is the memorial of St. Cecilia, the heavenly patroness of singers. He expressed his gratitude to the cathedral mixed choir Josip Stadler who, under the direction of rev. Marko Stanušić, regularly sing at pontifical Holy Mass celebrations.
In his homily, Archbishop Vinko pointed out that “by glorifying Christ the King, we want to recognize the value of the fight against sin so that Christ may reign in our hearts”. He added that the special importance of the kingdom of Christ is reflected in the care of the flock, that is, of every man. He further became aware that Jesus is also the judge of what the Gospel passage speaks of (Matt. 25: 31-46). “With his message in the Gospel, Jesus wants to seriously remind us of the Day of Judgment (...) Today, we talk less and less about it because people are afraid to talk about the transition to eternity”, he said and then spoke about the protector of liturgical singing St. Cecilia and importance of liturgical celebration.
After the Holy Mass, Cardinal and Msgr. Vukšić met in the premises of the Ordinariate with the members of Josip Stadler choir, and the cathedral parish priest, venerable Mato Majić, hosted members of the cathedral parish choir at the premises of the parish house.
