In the sanctuary on Kovačići, celebration of St. Nikola Tavelić

On Saturday, November 14th, in the monastery and shrine of St. Nikola Tavelić in Kovačići in Sarajevo, the day of St. Nikola Tavelić, martyr and witness of the faith, was celebrated. On that occasion, the Holy Mass was celebrated by the spiritual assistant of the Frama of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Davor Petrović.

There were five priests in concelebration, including the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, OFM Jozo Marinčić, and the Secretary of the Province, OFM Damir Pavić. At the beginning of the Holy Mass, the present believers, missionaries and all those who followed the Holy Mass on the waves of Radio Marija BiH were greeted by Secretary Pavić.

During the Eucharist, liturgical singing was animated by theologians from Franciscan Theology, OFM Fabio Badrov and OFM Hrvoje Žabić. Afterwards, in compliance with epidemiological measures, a snack and socializing was organized in the lobby of the sanctuary.

The solemn celebration of the patron saint was preceded by three-days Holy Mass.

We remind that the consecration of the founding stone of the votive sanctuary, then Bl. Nikola Tavelić in Kovačići, was celebrated in 1940. After a little more than five decades, during the last war, the place was destroyed. Tha Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić blessed the new church on November 14th 2013. Since then, this sanctuary is still alive and every Wednesday the spiritual renewal and devotion of St. Nikola Tavelić are held.
